The New Territory Arts Association
Benton Harbor, MI
Founded in 1998 in order to develop and promote The Benton Harbor Arts District, the
New Territory Arts Association is a grassroots organization dedicated to the revitalization
of Benton Harbor through the Arts. The NTAA has been responsible for many
special district events including the annual Arts District Banner Projects, The Fall Festival
of the Arts, the NTAA Mural Project, and the Benton Harbor City Market. The
New Territory Arts Association Scholarship Fund provides assistance with art education
for community youth by helping with tuition for classes at The Citadel Dance
Center, Water Street Glasswork's "Fired Up!" program, and other regional art education
curricula. The NTAA also sponsors The Benton Harbor Children's Art Fair and
other area arts related programs.

This improvisational fusion project redefines Marcus\' funk and jazz into a wide range of musical color, tone and rhythm. <p> The driving beat of drummer Skeeto Valdez and the throbbing bass of Peter Chwazik (you\'lll remember from Marcus\' 2009 Big Idea Band) compliment Robinson\'s lyrical improvisation and music interpretation. <p>Veteran of the Jam-Band scene, Peter and Skeeto met on a cold winter night in northern Vermont in 2005, at a rehearsal for what was to become 70 Volt Parade, the first post-Phish solo project of guitarist Trey Anastasio. It was love at first groove. After three cds and a tour that found them jamming with the Neville Brothers, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Dave Matthews, members of Phish and others, Peter left the group but Skeeto continued on as the band opened for the Stones and Tom Petty.<p> This performance at the Livery will be the epicenter for a creative explosion; total improvisation and musical interpretation of entirely new music.
